Law enforcement investigations increasingly involve making sense of large volumes of visual evidence, with AI offering new ways to search and analyze this material. Yet investigative work is rarely linear, and finding answers involves exploring leads, forming hypotheses, and questioning what emerges. This project explores how AI can become part of that process without replacing human judgment. The outcome is a flexible workspace where investigators can navigate evidence, explore connections, and engage with AI-generated interpretations while remaining in control of their investigation.

This project was a chance to work on something where the stakes are real, with an amazing team, exploring how investigators and AI should relate to each other. We were honored to be invited to exhibit the project at Europol’s Innovation Days in The Hague. There’s a lot more to it than this page covers, so if any of it sounds interesting, I’d be happy to talk about it.
